The Truchard family estate began selling their grapes to premier wineries in 1973 and continued to do so for 15 years. Once they had enough cash flow they moved into making their own wines in 1989. During that time they resisted the temptation to join the crowd with an over-the-top blockbuster Cabernet. Instead they’ve chosen the path of a graceful wine displaying an alluring amount of juicy black fruit. There’s plenty of power here, but it doesn’t scream or overwhelm your palate.
