Springbank has been owned by the same family, the Mitchells, since 1837 and no other Scottish distillery can display such a remarkable heritage. However, this came to an end in 2023 when Hedley Wright, the great-great-grandson of one of the founders, passed away. With no family members to take over, Springbank was put into a trust to safeguard the future. This Springbank 100 Proof series is new to their line-up of incredible whiskies. It’s only 5 years old but certainly carries some depth, aged entirely in ex-bourbon casks. You’ll taste a smooth mix of citrus, spicy ginger, shortbread and vanilla soaked biscuits, with a good balance of peat smoke.
