After a 10-year application process, the French National Institute of Origin and Quality, has approved the classification of making Pouilly-Fuisse the first appellation within Burgundy’s Maconnais sub-region, to benefit from premier cru vineyards. Very exciting news! This liberated winegrower (a cultivator of grapes for wine) in the southern part of Burgundy produces a range of wines. The Chardonnay grapes for this 1er Cru Au Vignerais, stems from the village of Pouilly-Fuisse. It carries a bold and enticing mix of well-integrated oak and buttery creaminess with a harmony of white and tropical fruit. The wine is vinified traditionally and aged 12 months in French Oak, of which 20% is new.
