North Star Linkwood 9 Year Old

North Star is an independent bottling company playing an important role in the whisky business. In this case, they have purchased some casks from the Linkwood Distillery and then carefully chosen when to bottle and release the whisky. Distilled in 2016, this single malt spent 9 years aging in a marriage of 3 Oloroso Octaves and 2 refill Sherry Casks, before bottling. An ‘Octave Sherry Cask’ is a very small barrel, giving the impression of an older tasting whisky. This limited release is wonderfully smooth and creamy, offering a fusion of dried figs, purple plum, dried cherries and citrus peel, with a hint of oaky vanilla on a spicy, nutty finish.
