The town of Gavi is situated in the southern part of Piedmont, in northwestern Italy. The history of the white wine made from the Cortese grape is as old as the town of Gavi, dating back over one thousand years. Since 1956, Michele Chiarlo has been making wine to express the essence of this region and his family’s vineyards. Because the Cortese grape is so extremely fragile, he is particularly watchful to achieve the perfect amount of freshness. This is a classic expression of a wine we don’t see produced anywhere else in the world. The thirst quenching qualities reveal subtle pear, apricot and orange blossoms with a whiff of almonds.
