Massolino Dolcetto d'Alba

Can there we be ‘wow’ Dolcetto? If there can be, then this is one, and it bodes brilliantly for the (already hyped) 2020 vintage in general. Traditionally cropped from an ideally positioned 3.2 hectares within the Serralunga postcode, recent vintages also include fruit from Massolino’s Cascina I Maschi vineyard in Monforte d’Alba.

Raised entirely in tank, this is surprisingly deep, yet also so juicy and bright, with flavours and aromas of ripe plum, dark cherry, iodine and violet, supported by ripe, yet abundant, chalky tannins. I’m not sure I’ve ever thought of a Dolcetto I’d love to see this with a few years of age, but I did here. Serious bargain. Distributor Notes
