In 2006, Pascal left the Boisset group to pursue his own project with a long-time friend and very respected colleague. He joined forces with Moray Tawse of the Tawse Winery in Niagara, one of Canada’s most recognized wineries. Together, they brought the new Maison Marchand-Tawse to life in Burgundy. Clos de la Roche is the most northerly of Morey-Saint-Denis' grand cru vineyards. It is located on the slopes of the Cote d'Or escarpment, above the Route des Grand Crus Road and covers 16.9 hectares of Pinot Noir vines. This means it is now one of the larger grand cru sites, beaten only by Corton, Clos de Vougeot, Echezeaux and its close neighbour to the north, Charmes-Chambertin. In other words, for Pinot Noir perfection and pure precision, this is one of the best sites to find it. This wine is savoury and structured, offering loads of juicy red and black fruit with a hint of truffle, spicy herbs and firm tannins. Drink between: 2025-2042
