There have been Muzards in Santenay since 1645 or before. The Lucien in the title was born in 1937. He bought land and planted vines with his wife Paule, thus offering his sons the opportunity of carrying on this inherited legacy of old vines. Both sons (Claude and Herve) learned the rudiments of the trade from their father. The chardonnay grapes for this wine are lightly pressed and clarified before being placed into barrels for roughly 6 to 9 months of aging, after fermentation. The end result is a lush and creamy Chardonnay offering a full blast of meyer lemon curd, stone fruit nectar and beeswax with a hint of creamy, buttered toast.
