Illahe, pronounced Ill-Uh-Hee, is a local word used from Chinook Jargon meaning ‘earth’ or ‘place’ or ‘soil’. Farmers at heart, this is a husband and wife team that began their career as winegrowers selling to some of the top estates within Oregon. They started making their own wine in 1999 with a focus on Pinot Noir but Lowell’s love of white wine and experimentation ensures that Illahe’s future will always have a hand with the crisper side of wine. This carries a rich, compelling nose with lots of body on the palate. Pleasant apple, spicy melon and pear balances perfectly with lots of refreshing acidity and a hint of flowers.
