Piaggia Mauro Vannucci 'IL Sasso' Carmignano

The Piaggia estate was founded by Mauro Vannucci in the mid 1970’s and is located in the gently rolling Tuscan hills, about 10 miles west of Florence. In its 30 years of existence, Piaggia has managed to solidly establish its place among the great wineries of the classic Tuscan DOCG of Carmignano. IL Sasso is a powerhouse blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. It’s incredibly complex on the nose, reminiscent of dark fruits, forest jam, sweet spices, thyme and cocoa. The palate certainly carries an excellent balance of tannins with a persistent juicy finish and a harmonistic follow-through.
