Evesham Wood 'Le Puits Sec' Chardonnay
| Availability: | In stock (10) |
Russ Raney founded Evesham Wood in 1986 after training with the legendary Henri Jayer in Burgundy, France. The wines are based on the driving principle that small and focused is beautiful and delicious. The grapes for this delightful Chardonnay, stems from what all that remains of Russ’s 2.5-acre experiment with Chardonnay, in the ‘Le Puits Sec’ vineyard. While Oregon’s reputation for Chardonnay has come a long way, those early years were a harder time to convince folks of Oregon’s capability. This example has been barrel-fermented and aged in the same barrel since 1981, year after year. It’ll certainly remind you of the finesse and delicacy normally associated with White Burgundy, with a lovely balance of creamy butter, tropical fruit, yellow apple and citrus. Only 66 cases produced.
