Diego Conterno Barolo 'Ginestra Cru'

In the world of Barolo there are a dizzying number of Conternos and it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between them. However, Diego Conterno certainly leads the way and was once part of a larger group making superb, though decidedly more modern wines. In 2000 he sold his share in the company, took his vines, including the prized ‘Ginestra Cru’ and began bottling his own wine. Today, the father and son team work their 7.5 hectares of vineyards, making breathtaking wines. This ‘Ginestra Cru’ is one of the most consistent and most exciting expressions of Nebbiolo in their line-up. You’ll taste a lovely fusion of raspberry, blackberry, chocolate, herbal spice, leather and licorice, with a good punch of tannins. Drink between: 2024-2038
