Chateau Palmer 'Alter Ego' Margaux

The Bordeaux Wine Classification of 1855 has always been a very important and historic moment for the wine region of Bordeaux. Brokers from the wine industry ranked the wines according to a Chateau’s reputation and trading price, from First to Fifth Growths (crus). This isn’t a guarantee of quality but certainly a very impressive guideline to follow and have some fun with. In this classification system, Chateau Palmer, in Margaux, is rated as a Third Growth. But all these iconic Chateaus will release a wine labelled as their ‘great second wine’. For Chateau Palmer, this wine is called ‘Alter Ego’. This beast is a true delight blending Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. It exhibits notes of blackberry, black cherry, blackcurrant, raspberry and violets, with hints of mocha, earth and truffle. Drink between: 2024-2038
