Ribatejo is named for the banks of the Tejo (Tagus) River, which divides this slightly obscure wine region with no coastline or border with Spain. It’s the second largest region located in central Portugal. As a whole, this area is still struggling to forge a wine identity, but some hidden gems can be found. This is a blend of Syrah, Touriga Nacional, Aragonez and Merlot. It’s a powerful yet rounded wine carrying a great mix of juicy blueberry, spicy cherry, blackberry and raisins.
